Sustaining Engineer

Switchcraft, Inc. is a U.S. manufacturer of harsh environment circular connectors, cable assemblies and interconnect solutions. Our products are used in a wide variety of industries including medical, industrial controls, transportation and homeland security. We are located on the Northwest side of Chicago and currently have an opening for a Sustaining Engineer. This candidate must have knowledge of Maintenance, redesign, improvements and general support for existing products and for designing and releasing custom customer products using current product families. The candidate must be able to work on several projects at one time through changing priorities as well as researching the history and current state of the product evolution, resolution of production and Customer concerns. The qualified candidate must know implementation of product improvements and investigation of new processes and materials. Sustaining engineer is responsible for producing and maintaining accurate project plans and CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies. Specification documents, design analysis (tolerance, FEA, FMEA). Test documentation, product cost estimates, and Bills of Material. Coordinates engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing and making recommendations for parts, materials and tooling. Must be able to provide technical support to Sales/Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
• Entry level to 3 years work experience.
• Design experience with connector and cable products is a plus.
• Mechanical Design Skills.
• Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering skills is a plus.
• Knowledge of plastic and metal materials and their uses/applications.
• Understanding of injection molded plastic parts and metal screw machine parts.
• Experience with 3-D CAD modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA.
• Understanding of mechanical drawing requirements and proper application of dimensional and tolerance information.
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Good project management skills
• Strong verbal & written communication skills

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Switchcraft® is a U.S. manufacturer of connectors, jacks, plugs, molded cable assemblies, patchbays, and switches. Our products are used in a wide variety of industries including medical, GPS, process control, transportation, homeland security, broadcast and pro audio. We are conveniently located on the northwest side of Chicago.

Switchcraft is currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of manual, semi-automatic and fully automated production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Candidate must have the ability to set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Position requires both mechanical aptitude and electrical experience. We are looking for an individual who will be a self starter and be able to work with minimal supervision and adhere to safety rules.

Requirements
Minimum of 5 years experience
Requires knowledge and use of basic measuring equipment such as rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Requires electrical experience.
Requires machine shop skills
Requires ability to read technical and electrical drawings.

Mold Machine Set-up

Conxall is currently seeking for a Mold Machine Set-up will work with the mold repair supervisor on moving molds. This person will set-up, operate 10 molding machines, and adjust injection mold machines used to mold plastic materials to specified shape.

This position is located at our Villa Park Location

Industrial Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly organized Industrial Engineer that works with the maintenance, engineering, production, and warehousing departments to provide technical expertise, problem solving, work instructions and engineering solutions to the production department to improve product quality.

Responsibilities
Supports the design engineering department by applying production perspective to designs, participating in development activities, coordinating samples, and researching alternative materials and assembly processes for new products.
Researches, tests, qualifies and implements new factory equipment, particularly for over-molding, cable cutting, and crimping equipment.
Determines the labor content of each product and populates the enterprise system with process routings.
Conducts statistical studies of wire pulling, crimping, and assembly processes and must map out strategies for improvement of these processes.
Conducts experiments on various methods of handling and applying epoxy materials into cable assembly products.
Looks for ways to drive down product cost and reduce lead time to the customer.

Requirements:
B.S. degree in engineering, science or technical subject matter preferred. Associates degree or equivalent work experience in technical subject matter is required.
Two years experience in technical industry supporting production activities is required.
Experience in designing, supporting, or fabricating cable assemblies preferred.
Experience in injection molding or plastic over-molding preferred.
Outstanding oral and written communications skills in English is required.
Bilingual communication in English and Spanish is preferred.
Fluent in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Assembler

Switchcraft® is a U.S. manufacturer of connectors, jacks, plugs, molded cable assemblies, patchbays, and switches. Our products are used in a wide variety of industries including medical, GPS, process control, transportation, homeland security, broadcast and pro audio. We currently have an opening for assemblers at our Chicago facility.

We are currently looking for assemblers to work second shift (3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) at our Chicago location. Assemblers work with table top presses and hand tools to assemble small electronic components. Candidates must be able to follow instructions given by group leaders or supervisor and be able to work independently in a team environment Job requires basic reading and math skills.

HR Assistant

Switchcraft and Conxall are currently seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support the HR and Payroll functions of our manufacturing facility in Chicago. This position requires occasional travel to our Villa Park facility.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with recruiting and hiring efforts
• Maintain personnel records, in compliance with HR regulations
• Processes payroll through ADP vantage
• Assist with benefit administration and become familiar with all benefit plans
• Enforce company policies, rules and regulations
• Effectively communicate information to employees and job applicants

Qualifications:
• Associates degree/Bachelors preferred

New Product Development Engineer

We are located on the Northwest side of Chicago and currently have an opening for a New Product Development Engineer. This candidate will work in collaboration with Marketing and Engineering Management for New Product conceptualization. The candidate must be able to work on several projects at one time through changing priorities and complete assigned projects from concept to production release. The candidate will estimates costs for materials and labor and investigation of new processes and materials. This candidate will also be producing and maintaining accurate project plans, CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies, design Iterations and design Reviews – Release to Tooling, Release to Manufacturing. Specification documents, design analysis (tolerance, FEA, FMEA) Test documentation, product cost estimates, and Bills of Material. Coordinates engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing and making recommendations for parts, materials and tooling.
