CAD Operator

Switchcraft, Inc./ Conxall Corporation is a U.S. manufacturer of harsh environment circular connectors, cable assemblies and interconnect solutions. Our products are used in a wide variety of industries including medical, industrial controls, transportation and homeland security. We are located on the Northwest side and in the near Western suburbs of Chicago and currently have an opening for a CAD Operator at both locations. The CAD Operator will generate and revise CAD models and drawings, in compliance with company drafting standards. The CAD Operator will follow all procedures for generating, revising, and releasing models and drawings into the CAD system. The bulk of the work will include incorporating Engineering Change Orders into existing CAD data, generating new models and drawings from legacy data and generating new models and drawings based on existing products. Additional skills such as familiarity with the company MRP system and Engineering procedures will be gained over time. This is an entry level to minimal experience position.



Job Requirements

The preferred candidate will have an Associate’s Degree or Certificate of Completion in a Design or Drafting Program with up to one year experience as a Mechanical CAD drafter, using 3-D CAD design packages, (preferably SolidWorks). The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, independently interpret and apply dimension and tolerance standards and generate and revise solid models and engineering drawings.

Alternately, a candidate without experience that demonstrates mechanical aptitude and has the desire to learn may be considered. In-house training would be provided on a probationary basis with expected performance milestones.


Product Design Engineer

Conxall Corporation is a U.S. manufacturer of harsh environment circular connectors, cable assemblies and interconnect solutions. Our products are used in a wide variety of industries including medical, industrial controls, transportation and homeland security. We are located in the near Western suburbs of Chicago and currently have an opening for a Product Design Engineer. All levels of experience will be considered.
The Product Design Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design and development of new electromechanical components and recommending modifications and improvements to existing products. Successful candidate must be able to take products from conception, through development and into production. Duties include producing and maintaining accurate project plans, drawings for components and assemblies, specification documents, design analysis (tolerance, FEA, FMEA), test documentation, product cost estimates, and Bills of Material. Position is responsible for coordinating engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing and making recommendations for parts, supplies and tooling. In addition, the Product Design Engineer will be expected to provide technical support to sales/marketing, manufacturing, and purchasing. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

Requirements:

BSME
Design experience with connector and cable products is a plus.
Mechanical Design Skills.
Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering skills is a plus.
Knowledge of plastic and metal materials.
Understanding of injection molded plastic parts and metal screw machine parts
Experience with 3-D CAD modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA.
Understanding of mechanical drawing requirements and proper application of dimensional and tolerance information.
Working knowledge of MS Office
Good project management skills
Strong verbal & written communication skills
